Chemical engineering topics for projects
Here are two sample projects from my previous company (some of the data is fictitious):
1) The Reservoir Engineer of a company says that if they lower the wellhead pressure of ABC Field from 1200 to 400 psi, then production from the wells will almost double, and recoverable reserves will increase. The Process Engineer is asked to investigate and lead a design effort to achieve that.
2) A new government regulation dictates that oil companies will not be allowed to flare or vent gases any more except during emergencies. This regulation was brought up in response to international efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to reduce global warming. The companies should report and pay a tax on their CO2 emissions. If companies flare or vent more than the allowable amounts, then they pay a heavy fine. Companies are given a grace period of three years to implement solutions. The process engineer is tasked with developing a design to achieve that.
